HOLLOW BAR MICROPILES

Hollow bar micropiles are small diameter bored, cast-in-place composite piles in which the applied loads are resisted by steel reinforcement, cement grout and frictional grout-to-ground bond. In most ways hollow bar micropiles are similar to traditional micropiles, with some differences.

The bar itself acts as the drill rod and is left in place, for reinforcement once drilling is complete.  Grout is continuously injected through the hollow bar during the drilling operation; for instance, the need for temporary casing is eliminated, this allows significant cost and schedule savings possible.
